The blond in the back

The myopic reports of a slightly dysfunctional nerdy blond, who should have lived in the 19th century. Or at least the 1950's.

Hello 2011

Happy New Year!

While I stubbornly don’t read what I’m supposed to be reading for my exams, I came across some pretty cool book challenges blogs, including this beauty here, called Worth Reading It? (oh, the challenges that I missed last year!). Also, Shelfari (which I find so much better-looking and useful than GoodReads, but noone I know is there) has a pretty great book challenges group, this is the 2011 page.

And I went a little delusional and decided to join two other challenges. Okay, maybe three. I don’t know, I’m so tempted! And then I started thinking “Hey, if you sign up for what you want, maybe you’ll get out of the computer in time to read for that freaking exam!”, so maybe I got a little carried away. A little.

So let’s start it:

Outdo Yourself Reading Challenge

Outdo Yourself Challenge at TheBookVixen.com - the goal is to read more books than you did in 2010, and that’ll be fairly easy for me, since (just counted) I read only 20 books and started another 15 (plus few other mandatory readings that I really hated and didn’t list down). This is my worst number in YEARS. So I’m signing up for the I’m on fire (16+) level. You can see the details here, and I’ll be making a post for Books Read as soon as a book is read.

Off The Shelf!

Off the Shelf Challenge at BAReadingChallenges.blogspot.com - the goal is to read the books from your To Read shelf, the ones you bought and still haven’t read. I’ve got LOTS of those, so this might be an incentive. I counted the ones that seem less boring (distant relatives LOVE to give me books I’d not read unless every other was burnt), and they’re well over 30, but I’m signing for the Making a Dint level (30 books) and at least give them at try. Probably will fail at this one, since most of them I have already given up at Chapter Two at some point over the last couple of years, but hey, fingers crossed. Details are here, and books will also be posted in Book Read.

Femme Fatale Challenge at She-is-too-fond-of-books.blogspot.com - the goal is to read as many books and see as many movies as wanted that inlcude femme fatales, powerful beautiful women who tantalise men and usually make them suffer (think of Rita Hayworth in Gilda). I looove femme fatales and will gladly join this challenge at Jezebel (6 items) level. More info here, and I’ll also be mentioning it in Books Read.

The one challenge that I liked but cannot join without feeling super guilty is the 80’s 90’s YA Novels Challenge, you can view details here.

Okay, maybe not the one, Vintage Mystery looks great too, look. Cool blog too. This other blog makes me think twice about WordPress.

Anyway, may 2011 be filled with good books, great friends and fantastic moments!

xoxo
